63m Pedestrian Suspension Bridge

Client: Western Bay of Plenty District Council  Objective: Western Bay of Plenty District Council commissioned Tiaki to develop an existing kiwi orchard into a multi-use sports field in Katikati by reshaping the existing kiwi orchard to meet the club requirements and to install a complete drainage system.

This is a 63m long by 2.5m wide pedestrian and cyclist suspension bridge, designed for 5kPa pedestrian and cyclist loading.  The bridge was designed to comply with the latest New Zealand standards and to be a state of the art asset.  The towers were designed out of steel hollow sections and the main structure was suspended by 4 No.Off 60mm Spiral Strand cables. The bridge deck was designed using FRP Covertop decking.
