Bridge Design

Our bridge design process includes the design-build option, and takes into account the required standards, materials, load, site location, contractor, and compliance with rules and legislation.

The Tiaki structural team designs bridges that can safely carry and support the load requirements, and be built within the restrictions of the space. All designs comply with recognised design standards and local authority regulations. Full design documentation and construction drawings are provided for contractors, as well as the completion of applications for consents.

Tiaki have experience designing a range of bridge types for various applications. These include:

  • Farm/rural bridges
  • Vehicle bridges
  • Pedestrian bridges
  • Forestry bridges
  • Service bridges (pipes and infrastructure)
  • Suspension bridges
  • Cable stay bridges
  • Culverts
  • Submersible (low level) bridges

Foundation Design

Foundations are the essential connection between a structure and the earth, these must be designed to support the required loads and withstand various ground conditions and changes. Our  team conduct appropriate ground investigations and load analysis to ensure the structure foundations cater to the conditions and are fit for purpose. Tiaki specialise in designing unique foundations to deal with varying ground conditions. This includes:

  • Piles
    • Driven steel
    • Blade (screw)
    • Driven timber
    • Driven FRP
    • Augured concrete
    • Timber
    • CFT
    • Anchor foundation in permafrost
  • Mass concrete foundations and abutments
  • Rafts - TC1, TC2, TC3 and specific engineering concrete foundations
  • Slab on grade
  • Industrial floors
  • Retaining walls
  • Gabion type structures

Tank Design

We provide both lead consultant as well as specialist design support services for tank suppliers. This includes:

  • Buried and above ground potable reservoirs
  • Concrete and steel tanks

Our Geotech team undertake Geotechnical assessments to analyse the feasibility of placing the tank in or on the ground. The structural team then design the tank or works with a specialist tank supplier to utilise a proprietary tank. The foundations are designed by our team, we monitor the process of construction to ensure the final product meets the design drawings and specifications required.

The Tiaki team has a wide range of experience in tank design. This includes:

  • 10ML potable water reservoirs for various district and city councils
  • Private industrial tanks and liquid retaining structures:
  • Dairy effluent
  • Wastewater
  • Process liquids
  • Fire water storage

Tiaki Engineering Consultants focus on working with the client from inception to completion, ensuring that the end result is fit for purpose and does not negatively affect the surrounding environment.

Our team work to understand the equipment that will be housed within the structure and how this will operate - focusing on creating a functional space that supports the industrial processes within.

  • Site monitoring and inspection
  • Silos (coal and grain)
  • Industrial warehouses
  • Conveyor gantries
  • Crane design
  • Industrial structures
  • Dispatch plants
  • Water retaining structures
  • Wastewater and bulk water supply structures
  • Rehabilitation of concrete and steel structures

Commercial & Residential

Tiaki Engineering Consultants can help with all your commercial and residential structural engineering requirements. This includes assessment of natural critical events such as high winds, earthquakes, various other relevant loads, as well as designs and specifications that meet national standards and local authority requirements. Our commercial and residential structural engineering includes site monitoring and inspection to ensure compliance.
