Background
The Tauriko Business Estate is an emerging industrial zone in Tauranga, focused on enhancing the region’s industrial and commercial prominence.
Allcom commissioned us to deliver design and construction monitoring services for the Uzabus Tauriko bus depot project, tailored to their specific requirements.
Uzabus, which currently provides a variety of transportation services such as urban bus services, bus charters, coach tours, and luxury tour coaches, required a new depot featuring a spacious bus parking area, an office and workshop building, and a specialised bus wash bay.
Project Objectives
Engaged by Allcom Investments Limited, Tiaki Engineering Consultants provided design and construction monitoring services. The project encompassed several key components in both civil engineering and structural engineering.
Civil Engineering:
- Management of washdown water.
- Design of a bus wash bay.
- Stormwater management solutions.
- Installation of wastewater and water services, including a solution to manage trade waste.
- Design of a parking area.
- Pavement design and implementation.
- Upgraded shared entrance.
Structural Engineering:
- Design of an 1100m² office and workshop. The structure consists of a 20 metre-span structural steel portal frame, including 5m cantilever canopies, and cross-laminated timber (CLT) floors for the multi-storey office area of the building.
- Design of a 90m² structural steel portal frame bus wash bay.
- Interior and exterior slabs suitable for forklifts, buses and racking.
Project Outcomes
Tiaki Engineering Consultants provided innovative design solutions and technical support throughout the nine-month construction phase. Our collaborative approach ensured the effective realisation of the project, meeting the client’s expectations. The new depot, with its spacious bus parking area, state-of-the-art office and workshop building, and specialised bus wash bay, significantly enhances the operational capabilities of Uzabus.
