What We Do

The success of any project hinges on the quality of the guidance and groundwork on which it is built. With this in mind, we approach your project holistically, starting from the ground up. Our expert geotechnical team is equipped to provide sound advice and innovative engineering solutions, forming the bedrock for thriving residential, industrial, and land development endeavours. TECL will work closely with you to advise on the most practical, innovative, and effective solutions for a successful outcome. We always tailor our approach to the unique characteristics of each project, ensuring a solid base for success. Our services include fieldwork planning, testing, and reporting services such as hand auger, scala penetrometer testing (DCP), shear vane testing, soakage testing for stormwater disposal system design, and deep borehole testing. Additionally, we offer site monitoring and verification services (MSQA) during construction.

Retaining Walls

Tiaki Engineering Consultants has substantial expertise in designing and constructing retaining walls and coastal seawalls. We offer a wide range of retaining solutions, from cantilever timber pole walls to concrete gravity walls, block walls, and even complex mechanically stabilised earth (MSE) embankments. Our team consists of experienced geologists and engineers who understand ground profiles and site-specific constraints. This knowledge enables us to design and detail retaining structures that meet your specific needs efficiently. Additionally, when necessary, we collaborate with trusted partners to provide review services for Category 1 or 2 geo-professional certification.

Land Development

Subdivision Work
With our well-equipped, in-house team of professional civil engineers and geologists specialising in geological testing, Tiaki Engineering Consultants offers experienced and efficient subdivision design and reporting services. We have a deep understanding of the developmental potential of land, recognising crucial factors such as section arrangement, slope stability, liquefaction risk, civil services, and access requirements involved in creating a new subdivision. Our civil engineering team provides expert services including as-built documentation, design, and construction monitoring for subdivision roading and three waters design.

Comprehensive Reporting

Geotechnical Reporting

We provide comprehensive geotechnical reports tailored to meet specific council or engineering design requirements. Our reports are designed to fulfil various needs, including resource consent, building consent, or engineering design for structures such as farm sheds, houses, major buildings, bridges, and industrial plants. Additionally, we support earthworks, infrastructure, and land development projects as needed. With decades of experience in the Bay of Plenty and beyond, our team has successfully completed projects of varying sizes and geological conditions.

Ground Profile Modelling

Understanding the composition of the soil upon which your project will be developed is crucial for making informed design decisions. When designing installations of varying scales, especially those subject to high load demands or potential vibrations, it’s essential to assess the condition of the supporting ground thoroughly before initiating the structural design process. In regions with high water tables, conducting ground liquefaction modelling becomes imperative for safe construction planning, particularly in seismically active areas like Aotearoa New Zealand. Furthermore, embankments, cuttings, and slopes in civil engineering or land development projects may require stability checks to ensure public safety and maintain safe access.

Fieldwork
With over a decade of experience in geotechnical site investigations, our team possesses a comprehensive understanding of various geological areas across Aotearoa New Zealand. Equipped with an in-house fieldwork team, we are proficient in executing basic geotechnical testing such as Scala Penetrometer testing, Hand Augers and Shear Vanes, and providing MSQA and construction monitoring services. Our site investigation services cater to properties of all sizes, ranging from single-house lots to large commercial sites or subdivisions. If peer review is required, we can leverage our established partnerships with geo-professional accredited engineers in categories 1 and 2. Alternatively, we are open to collaborating with any preferred professionals you may have to ensure your peace of mind.
